Remember those super unhealthy (but fun), candy necklaces? Well, how about something A LOT healthier, a FRUIT NECKLACE! This is a great activity to do with your kids, just follow the simple steps below.
MATERIALS NEEDED
- elastic cord
- yarn needle
- fresh fruit and berries
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1. Wash the fruit
To begin, wash a variety of fruit (i.e. grapes, strawberries, and blueberries).
Step 2. Cut the cord and thread the needle
Cut two-foot lengths of elastic cord and thread onto a chunky yarn needle.
Step 3. Thread the fruit
Set out plates for each child to work on. Start each necklace with one piece of fruit knotted in place to hold all the other fruit “beads” on the necklace.
Step 4. Create a pattern
This is where your kids can be imaginative and come up with their own, unique pattern. And voila! Your child’s very own fruit necklace that they made.
We hope you have fun with this activity. It’s something you and your children can do after every grocery shopping trip.
