ABOUT ALISON + HER BACKGROUND
Alison is a lover of all things regarding the creation and performance of music. Performing across the Mid-Atlantic region, she plays solo, duo and in a trio called “The Thoms’ Cats” for audiences of all ages. She performs regularly at festivals, corporate events, house concerts, birthday parties, and other venues that support live music!
As long as Alison can remember, she has been writing songs, performing in choirs and bands, and organizing musical events.
Alison is native to Anne Arundel County and after completing her undergrad at The American University and circling the globe a few times, she commenced a career in the classroom. Alison’s life path has called her to develop many varied skill sets that have intricately and harmoniously allowed her to construct this musical mosaic of a life. As an arts integration specialist with a Master’s in Teaching, she worked with the Performing & Visual Arts program in Anne Arundel County. This experience helped curate the skills and confidence to pursue her “now” music career which includes writing, recording, instruction, and live performance!
Guests will enjoy an interactive acoustic performance with colorful scarves, percussion instruments, and dance games. A typical set list includes nursery rhymes and pop faves from various soundtracks such as Sing, Trolls, Moana, The Little Mermaid, and Encanto as well as The Name Game and You are My Sunshine. Bring your event to life with your and the child’s favorite songs! Requests welcome!
Alison brings a spirited, soulful, and sometimes edgy style to her performance of original works and her interpretations of favorite rock, pop, country, and blues songs from previous generations. Her rock-a-chill manner is said to capture the likeness of Bonnie Raitt and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Alison can engage audiences of all ages with her energetic and interactive performance style at your next private event!
Instruction-Adult/Child-Guitar & Voice-Private/Semi-Private/Group
Lessons are created to support individual goals. In addition to voice, guitar, and performance skills, Alison will explore elements of music, musical genres, and basic theory. Build your own group! This is great and ideal for children who are homeschooled. Lessons are held in the studio OR your home. Audition coaching is also available. Space is limited.
Alison debuted in the recording studio in 2019 and to date, she has released four originals, available on all streaming platforms and her website. Her first single entitled “Just Getting Started” is the A side of her seven-inch vinyl record, a.k.a 45. An album is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2024. She also works as a jingle and custom songwriter for organizations and individuals. Consider ”leveling up” your next event with a custom theme song OR gifting the individual ”who has everything” a song written exclusively for them!
Alison Thoms is passionate about music, private coaching lessons, and performing live during events. She is now booking for 2024 with gift cards available for the holidays.
